To amend the Child Care Act, 1983, so as to broaden the provisions granting exemption to certain categories of persons who may care for certain children apart from their parents for a period longer than 14 days; and to remove the provisions that overlap with the provisions of the Social Assistance Act, 1992, that provide for state contributions to the maintenance by foster parents of foster children; to amend the Social Act, 1992, so as to provide for uniformity of, equality of access to, and effective regulation, of social assistance throughout the Republic; to introduce the child-support grant; to do away with cavitation grants; to abolish maintenance grants subject to the phasing out of existing maintenance grants over a period not exceeding three years; to provide for the delegation of certain powers; and to extend the of the provisions of the Act to areas in the Republic; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

To amend the Security Officers 1987, in order to substitute the definition of “Board”; to determine the seat of the head office of the Interim Board; to make provision for the establishment and the constitution of an Interim Board to exercise control over the occupation of security officer and to maintain, promote and protect the status of that profession until a new permanent Security Officers Board has been established; to determine the objects, functions, powers and duties of the Interim Board; to provide that the Minister for Safety and Security shall conduct certain consultation before the appointment of the members of the Interim Board; to authorise the Interim Board to submit reports to the Minister for Safety and Security regarding the statutory functions to provide for a calling of a meeting of the Interim Board upon receipt by the chairperson of a request by seven or more members; to make provision for a quorum for a meeting of the Interim Board; to provide for the establishment of an executive committee for the Interim Board; to determine the number of board members required for a decision to withdraw the registration of a security officer; to substitute the long title of that Act; and to regulate certain transitional matters; and to make provision for certain matters connected therewith.

In terms of Regulation 2(1) of the Public Funding of Represented Political Parties Regulations, 1998, the Commission hereby gives notice that a total amount of R 98,925,805.00 (Ninety Eight Million, Nine Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Eight Hundred and Five Rand) is available for allocation for the period 1 April 2010 until 21 March 2011, to represented political parties, from the Represented Political Parties Fund established in terms of the Public Funding of Represented Political Parties Act, 1997 (Act No. 103 of 1997).
